Film
There’s a unique soul in photos you’ve developed by hand.
For the last 10 years, I have specialized in the cyano-type, platinum palladium and van dyke brown alternative photographic processes. I also have extensive experience in the darkroom, working with silver gelatin prints but favor the alternative processes.
Guided by a background in painting and illustration, my photography blends technical precision with an artistic, mixed-media sensibility and style. Whether I’m developing film in the darkroom or hand-detailing a print with watercolor and ink, I strive to immortalize moments with a distinct, illustrative style.
I was drawn to alternative photographic processes because way you apply the chemicals - reminded me of painting. Over time I developed my own style, guiding tones and edges so the images look as if they were splashed onto the paper.
From intimate portraits to expansive landscapes, my portfolio reflects a constant evolution and a passion for pushing the boundaries of fine art photography.
Alternative photographic processes refers to any non-traditional or non-commercial photographic printing process.
I combine photography with handwork—soft watercolor washes, light colored-pencil layers, and occasional ink splashes—to boost mood and detail, making images that feel both photographic and handmade. I also enjoy trying different papers and textures, and these methods allow me to that.
Digital
Over the years, I have accumulated an exuberant amount of experience using the digital camera. I have honed my skills in various aspects of this versatile art form, including studio composition, lighting, and post-processing.
I understand the importance of creating visually appealing images that grab the viewer's attention.
From portraits to landscapes, events to still life and photo journalism - I have explored various genres, constantly pushing myself to evolve and adapt.
While digital photography has opened numerous doors, it has also presented challenges. With the availability of affordable cameras and editing tools, the market has become saturated with photographers of varying skill levels.
Over the course of my career, I have embraced this ever-changing landscape, staying up-to-date with the latest equipment and techniques. From DSLRs to mirrorless cameras, and from professional-grade software to mobile editing apps, I have done everything I can to try to adapt to the digital revolution.
